Leslie, since your grave is at Suvla it seems most likely that you were a member of the 6th Service Battalion of the Lincolns who reinforced the hard-pressed troops fighting the Turks at Gallipoli early in August 1915. You were at a considerable disadvantage, however, since the Turks had occupied the high ground. It was little wonder therefore that your casualties were heavy, and, for example, you were one of ten comrades who died on the 28th of November. I salute you all as brave soldiers who died in the service of their country. My sympathy to your relatives who mourned your sacrifice. Rest in Peace. Harry.
