Sidney was baptised on 2nd June 1895 at All Saints Kettlestone. His parents were Arthur Alfred, an agricultural labourer and Lilian Emily Digby. His parents had 13 children. In 1901 Sidney was living with his parents in Kettlestone and probably attending Little Snoring Primary School. By 19ll Sidney was working as a stable lad and carrier for a pork butcher in Brimington Derbyshire. It isnot known why he had moved away but possibly a shortage of jobs may have been the cause. By 1914 he was back in Kettlestone and he enlisted in the 9th battalion the Norfolk Regiment on the 5th of Setember 1914 in Fakenham . Near Ypres on 1st March 1916, Sidney received a gunshot wound to the chest and he died from this 2 weeks later. He was 20 years old.
