Ernest Arthur Leland Sturridge was killed by a premature explosion of a hand grenade, whilst drilling his men near Ypres, December 30, 1915. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1895, being one of the twin sons.

The colonel was quoted saying "The batillion is losing one of the very best and most promising officers I ever met in twenty five years of soldiering.
