Ralph, you were one of the soldiers who were named on the local war memorial. I used to be in the choir at Holy Trinity Church, and we used to process to the Memorial every Remembrance Day to sing "O valiant hearts, who to your glory came....." in your memory. I salute you as the brave soldier you undoubtedly were. I do not know the circumstances of your death so long after the cessation of hostilities, nor why you were buried in your home parish. However, I suspect you had been wounded in action, and returned to Blighty to recover. My sympathy to your widow and to other relatives who mourned your sacrifice. Rest in Peace. Harry.
