Alec was the son of Henry Gaselee, barrister-at-law, of Lincoln’s Inn and was born in 1894. He went to Winchester from Summerfields, Oxford in 1907 and went up to King’s College, Cambridge in 1912. After some years service in the O.T.C., he was appointed to the Special Reserve, and at the outbreak of the war joined the 15th Kings Hussars. He was killed at the Second Battle of Ypres leading his men.
