Mum (Joan Cain nee Twigg, 01/10/1934 to 01/04/2012) and Dad (Peter Bernard Cain 01/03/1933 to 18/12/2001) used to take my two brothers and I to Hanley cemetery at Christmas and Remembrance Sunday to lay flowers. As young children we thought this was a bit of a chore and perhaps didn't understand the significance of the visits, but now, aged 52, I find myself wondering why I didn't ask more questions about my late family. My Dad's parents are also buried in the same grave. William actually came back home from the trenches for Christmas 1914, but died from the Spanish flu epidemic that was sweeping the country at the time. He actually died on Christmas Eve at the age of 21 which is unbelievebaly tragic. I wish I knew more about him.
grave.
