All I know about great uncle William has come from his sister Ellen and her daughter (my mother) Margaret. Lived in Hyde, now part of greater Manchester. Joined a Pals battalion which became 19th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. Killed on 9th July by sniper fire in the area of Trones Wood near Montauban, Somme.
