Arthur, I am pretty certain that you were a member of the 7th Battalion of the North Staffs after reading the unit war diary and the printed history while I was researching the military service of my distant cousin, Sam Wootton, who, like you, did not survive the war. You had disembarked at Cape Helles on 11th July, and had hardly dug your defences before the Turks attacked you in force on the 19th. You were one of twenty from your unit who perished in the fighting before the rest of the Battalion sailed for Suvla Bay on the 5th of August. I salute you as a brave soldier who died in the service of his country. I trust that the Guard of HonourĀ  at your funeral service fired the traditional salute to a fallen comrade. My sympathy to your relatives who mourned your sacrifice. Rest in Peace. Harry.
