SCOTT Cecil Ewart, (2nd Lieutenant) later Captain.
“H” Battalion Tank Corps, 2nd Brigade. Awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous gallantry in action nr Gauche Wood on 1/12/1917. While commanding, his tank was hit and caught fire; 3 of the crew were killed and 2 wounded; this officer encouraged the remainder of the crew to keep firing with the other remaining guns until he was forced to withdraw the crew on account of the intense heat. Showing a complete lack of regard for his own safety he re-entered the tank bring out the wounded to safety. Died of wounds 9/9/1918 age 34
