Frank, I think that you were a member of the 7th Battalion of the North Staffs, which was the unit in which my own distant cousin was serving. From the date of your death and from what I read in your unit history, I think that you were in the attack on Suvla Bay. Since you were a senior NCO it would have been up to you and the other senior NCOs to lead the attack in which so many of you perished. I trust that the Guard of Honour at your funeral service fired the traditional salute to a fallen comrade. I salute you as a brave soldier who died in the service of his country. Rest in Peace.
