Thomas, I am almost sure that you served in the 7th Battalion of the North Staffs, together with a distant cousin of mine. You had sailed from Avonmouth on the 20th of June 1915 specifically to take part in the assault on Gallipoli, and were in the reinforcements who assisted in the attack on Suvla Bay where so many of your comrades also fell in battle. Since you are commemorated on the Helles Memorial I assume that your remains were not recovered from the field of conflict. Thomas, I salute your memory as a brave soldier who died in the service of his country. My sympathy to your relatives who mourned you loss. Rest in Peace.

Henry Harrison
