This soldier was my Father's father. Dad was 2 years old  and his brother John not yet born when their father was killed on the Somme in June 1916. My grandmother married again and had two daughters and one son, (who unfortunately died young,). Grandad Greenhalgh was almost forgotten until I and one of my cousins decided to research our family tree . I managed to find out that he was buried in Wailly Orchard Cemetary in France. No one from the family has yet been able to visit his grave but my middle son will hopefully be able to do so in 2015.
I am grateful to the British Legion for this opportunity to commemmorate a soldier who may otherwise have been forgotten by future generations.  He was the son of a butcher, whose family were originally from Anglesey, North Wales.
Incidentally I married a man from Anglesey
