I can do no better than recommend "Good Old Somersets"  ...An Old Contemptible' Battalion in 1914 .. by Brian Gillard. The Story of Hubert Bonning's tragic death is contained therein. Suffice to say, his sacrifice is remembered to this day by his sister Maud's extended family with great respect; and pride in a man who did his duty and paid the ultimate price.  May he always .... Rest in Peace.
