Frank Phillips was born in Trinity, Somerset and was a printer. He was posted to the 2nd South West Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance, RAMC which was attached to the 1/1st West Somerset Yeomanry. He kept a diary from 22-9-1915 until his death at the battle of Gaza. He was billeted at the Tendering Workhouse, Essex until his posting abroad to Gallipoli.
