James Crombie was my Great Uncle, the brother of my Gran Jessie Crombie. He enrolled at 17 with the Black Watch and left the tiny North East Fife village of Cupar Muir to fight in the great war. Sadly he died in France and never returned home. As a family we remember him, we do not have any photographs of him but his name is enscribed on the War Memorial in our home town of Cupar and his name is also on a plaque in the Old Parish Kirk so whenever we are in church we think of him.
