George was the youngest child of Alexander and Margaret Baird. He was born in Edinburgh in 1886. His siblings were Margaret, Isabella, Mary, Alexander, Ethel and William. Ethel's granddaughter Elizabeth visited George's grave in Warlencourt in September 2014.
