John Brewer was my mother's father and, accordingly, my grandfather.  It's seems odd to say that, because obviously he died before I was born.  Indeed, he died when my mother was only 6 months old.  In the way of those times, his relatives never talked very much about him.  For example, my mother only found out how tall he was when she was able to access his Army records.

Because he is buried in France, I have been told that means he had been hospitalised and would have been well looked after.  Tht is some cmfort.
