My Great-Uncle James was killed on the last few weeks of WWI on September 28th 1918, aged just 19. Sadly most of his family are no longer alive, and sadder still most of them died without really knowing anything about what became of him after his death. I personally feel a sadness as my own Father (his nephew) was a History Teacher, and was always very interested in WWI in particular as it had such a very personal significance for him. He always wanted to know what had happened to Uncle James, and sadly he passed away without being able to ever find out very much. Thankfully I have been able to uncover much more about Great-Uncle James and I now know that he was buried in Wytschaete Military Cemetery in Belgium. Something which would have been of great comfort to his family, as it was never known if he had a marked grave or was in a mass grave as so many others were. Hopefully I will be able to visit his grave and pay my respects on behalf of the family who could not. I fell that with the assistance of the internet and the records which are now held there I can build up a proper picture of James Brown, something which I am able to pass on to my children which means another generation remember those who were lost. May they all Rest in Peace.
