He was our great-uncle and the uncle of our mother Hettie Annie (Nancy) Mallender, daugther of Elsie Mallender, his sister. We know very little about his life.

His sister, Elsie, had three children, our uncle Jack, our mother Nancy and the yougest was called Arthur after his uncle. Arthur Mallender died of his wounds and was buried in Sicily after being taken to hospital there from North Africa where he had been injured. So two generations lost a son and brother called Arthur.
