I first read your name when I was transcribing the names on the Muir of Ord War Memorial, and the inscription gives your home address as Fairburn Muir. I read that your unit was involved in the First Battle of Ypres in support of the Belgian Army, and it was therefore in this fighting that you paid the supreme sacrifice of the British soldier. I sincerely hope that you were accorded the traditional salute to a fallen comrade fired by the honour party at your funeral. I am sorry that I do not know your Christian name, but that is not too important as I can still honour your memory as the brave soldier you undoubtedly were. Much sympathy to your relatives who mourned your loss. Rest in Peace. Harry.
