William is still very much remembered today. He died on 4th October 1917 in the field below Tyne Cott. As a family we were lucky enough to visit the cemetry. William was not a natural soldier and his death left a massive hole for about 60 years. When my great aunt died I was given a wonderful photo of William which I take into school every November when I teach the children about WW1 and life in a trench. SO William, a whole new generation know all about you and your memory is still very much alive nearly 100 years after you were taken from your family.
