My husband's grandmother always talked about her brother who went off to war and sadly never came home. She did not know where he was buried or what had happened to him. Sadly we were not able to complete our investigations until after she passed away but we found out that he is buried in Bully-Grenay Communal Cemetary and found out about his last hours in the battle field from the regiment war diaries. We visit each year and always take him a flower from Staffordshire to remember home. The next grave to him has an unknown soldier and we like to think that this might be his friend Lou Plimmer who we ahve never managed to trace.
