John William Martin was my Grandfather, Henry's brother.  The family were originally from Brierly Hill, Staffordshire but Henry and John moved to the Ironville/Riddings area of Derbyshire to work in the coal mines and iron foundry's.

John was born in 1884 and known to the family as Uncle Jack.   The photograph I have added is a copy of an oil painting that was done of him but the artist is unknown.  

He married Selina Fox and had several children born and raised in the Riddings area.  

He is commemorated on the war memorial in Riddings, Derbyshire.
