Private Herbert Glover was born 3 March 1896 at Hougham, nr Grantham in Lincolnshire, the son of William Hawley Glover and Selina Glover. Herbert served in the 2nd Bn South Staffordshire Regiment. His regimental number was 17524. Herbert died on 13th November 1916, aged 20 and is buried in the Serre Road No 1 Cemetery in France. His brothers Henry and Arthur Guy were also killed in WW1. Herbert left a short will dated 7th April 1916, which reads, 'In the event of my death I give the whole of my property and effects to my mother, Mrs Glover, Hougham Brickyard, Nr Grantham, Lincolnshire’. Herbert is also commemorated on a plaque within St Clement’s Church, Fiskerton, nr Lincoln.
