Rupert was my mother's eldest brother and my grandparents eldest child. He joined up under age. and died in the closing months of the war on August 11th at Le B***ee C****. His CO said he was among the first over the top, but maybe that was just to soften the blow, we shall never know. He was anly a boy like so many others.
