Edward William George Goodman was born in 1892 in Deptford. His parents were Edward and Margaret Goodman. In 1911 he was living with his family at 95 Rotherhithe New Road and was working as a wharf labourer. On 17th September 1911 at St Katherine's Church, Rotherhithe, he was married to his cousin Jane Louisa Manester. He joined the 8th Battalion, The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment and was killed on the 25th September 1915 near Vermelles, France. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
